　旅の玄関口、東京駅のほど近く、丸の内のパサージュに新しいお店を作りました。歴史や世界を旅してきたポータークラシックが、各地で出会ったジェントルマンたちから考え浮かび、今の時代にその歴史・文化・芸術や生活を甦らせたお店です。旅の出発に、旅の帰りに、マーケットでも覗くように遊びに来てください。お店のスタッフは知識豊富で、品物の背後に潜むストーリーを楽しくシェアします。きっと大人も子供も目が輝くような品物を見つけていただけることと思います。

Porter Classic has traveled the world in search of the gentlemen of yore. At our new Classic Gentlemen store in Tokyo Marunouchi—right near Tokyo Station, gateway to the city—we draw inspiration from those encounters to revive that history, culture, art, and way of life for the ladies and gentlemen of today.
Our Classic Gentleman store is located on the first floor of the Shin Marunouchi Building, a loving homage to the passages couverts of Paris just minutes away from Tokyo Station. Whether setting out on a journey or returning safely home, travelers will find our store a welcome interlude offering all the joy of browsing at a marché. Customers of any age are sure to find something to delight them, and our knowledgeable staff are always happy to share the stories behind the creation of our wares.

    最初期のカラー写真「オートクローム」を用い、地球を記録するという壮大なプロジェクトに全てと言える私財を投じ、後世のために50カ国以上、約7,2000枚の写真や100時間にも及ぶ映像を残した「本物のパトロン」。

    Albert Kahn invested virtually all his wealth in an ambitious project to document the entire planet using the autochrome process, an early form of color photography. A true patron, he traveled to over 50 countries and amassed an archive of 72,000 photos and 100 hours of film for future generations.

    河井寛次郎

    柳宗悦、濱田庄司と共に「民藝」の起こりとなった。「井の中の蛙、天を知る」と諺をもじりつつ一筋に打ち込むことへの賛美を示した言葉を残すなど、なんとも雰囲気の良い御仁である。

    Kanjiro Kawai was a co-founder of Japan’s Mingei movement alongside Soetsu Yanagi and Shoji Hamada. A thoughtful and unostentatious yet witty man, Kawai was a great admirer of people who pursued their craft with single-minded dedication. As he put it, “a frog in a well might know nothing of the sea, but it knows everything about the sky.”

We would also like to express our deepest respect for his advocacy of handspun and home-woven khadi textiles as inexorably linked to the nation’s future. Peace.
